I’m going to start this blog off with some Detroit Hometown funk the D.B.Gz or a legendary Detroit Hip Hop Trio. You might remember there song Bang bang boogie or Body like a M.F. which was featured in an episode of South Central. Riddler from the DBG’z was featured on the song loyal to the game with Tupac and Treach on the above the rim soundtrack. Maybe I’m biased because a couple of these guys are my cousins but I truly think that these are some very talented lyricist.

The DBG' z are a Detroit based hip hop trio. In 1993, they released the album Phissed Off under MC Hammer's Bust It Records.
Luke I Wanna Rock
in 1991, Luther Campbell of 2 Live Crew released the controversial album I wanna Rock. This album was actually banned in some retail locations.
2 Live Crew As Nasty As I Wanna Be
2 Live Crew released their third studio album As Nasty As I Wanna Be in 1989. it was released on February 7 and became their biggest selling album.
Poison Clan Poisonous Mentality

This is a compilation album of some of the best shit that RUN DMC put out. Even though it was released in 2002, I believe it to be an old school classic. If you don't like it, fuck you it's my blog.

This was their breakout release after everyone in New Edition began to do their own thang. Michael Bivins hollered at Ron and Rick and was like, "ya'll niggaz wanna make some money or what?"
Lichelle Laws aka Bo$$
Once again Detroit is in the building. I have to give it up to my homegirl Lichelle Laws better known as Boss. One of, if not the first female gangster rappers to emerge on the national scene in the early 90s and a dear friend of mine. I am blessed to know these Detroit Hip Hop Legends. Spice 1 1900-Sick
Back when Jive Records was cracking like that, Spice 1 released his fourth studio album. I must say Ant Banks had some of those beats banging.
MC Brains Lovers Lane
One of the first hip hop recording artists signed to Motown Records, Cleveland, Ohio's MC Brains, in association with Michael Bivins and Biv 10 Entertainment, released Lovers Lane on March 17, 1992.
L'Trimm Cars that go boom
These girls couldn't rap themselves out of a paper bag, but boy, were they sexy! Cars That Go Boom was released on in 1988 and reached number 54 on the Billboard Charts.
KMC KRU You be the judge
KMC KRU, Michigan natives, released one of my favorite hip hop country samples of all time, The Devil Came Up to Michigan in 1991. It's featured on the album You Be The Judge.
Grandmaster Slice Electric Slide
In 1991, Grandmaster Slice released the CD Electric Slide, also known as Shall We Dance.
Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet
My Father used to hate the song, 911 is a Joke. I bought a copy of this album and my father imitating that dickhead Calvin Butts, actually broke the cassette tape with a hammer.
Naughty By Nature
New Jersey in the building. In 1990, we were blessed with the release of the hip hop trio, representing Ill Town, Naughty By Nature.
Da Lench Mob Gurillas in tha mist
In 92, Ice Cube released his hip hop group, Da Lench Mob, upon the world, after appearing on his debut solo album, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted. You might remember the song Gurillas in tha Mist.
5th Ward Boyz Ghetto Dope
Rap-a-Lot Records hip hop group, 5th Ward Boyz, released their first studio album on May 18, 1993. You may remember hearing them on the Ghetto Boyz Til Death do us Part Album.
Ice Cube Amerikka's Most Wanted
After leaving NWA, Ice Cube recorded this album which I mistook as an NWA record when I first saw it in the record store. You must admit Ice Cube has the most recognizable face in the group because he looks like he will kill you.
MC Hammer U Cant touch this
As children, back on Petoskey street in West Detroit, we would have dance contests to the 1990 release by MC Hammer, U Can't Touch This.
Heavy D & The Boyz Big Time
The second album by the hip hop group Heavy D & The Boyz, but why call them a group? Who the fuck are The Boyz? It might as well be Heavy D and his niggaz.

Bust it Records rap group, N2Deep, recorded the album Back to the Hotel in 1992. You might recognize the sample in a million damn songs. I don't know who sampled who, but the shit is dope.

One of my favorite tracks on this album was Crossover. At least I think Crossover was on this album. Released in 1992, Business Never Personal was EPMD's fourth studio release.

More often known as the question song. Another lost classic that DJ's oughta be playing til this day. Released in 1994.
MC REN The Final Frontier
Who is it? the black nigga that they call Ren, you fuck with me, you gotta fuck with a mac 10. the Final Frontier was classic. I thought for sure that this song would surpass Ice Cube. Damn, I was wrong.
M.C. Breed & The DFC
Flint, Michigan representing. Ichiban Records released this collaboration album featuring MC Breed and hip hop duo DFC on August 13, 1991.
